Understanding MLB Baseball Point Spreads

Traditionally, there are no MLB baseball point spreads. For many new bettors the lack of point spreads makes it easy for them to get in on the action by simply wagering on the straight up outcome of the game. If you do not want to be concerned about your team winning but not covering the spread and subsequently losing your bet this can be a great advantage. Some bettors; however, want the thrill of betting on MLB and the excitement of something other than a straight up bet. Run lines come are the closest thing bettors will find to MLB baseball point spreads. This type of bet is fixed at a standard 1.5 points. This means that the favorite must win the game by a minimum of two runs in order for the bet to pay off. The underdog can also lose by one point and the bet would still win. Money lines are also attached to run lines. Generally, the price will be more attractive for the favorite than for a straight money line; however.

In this type of bet if the favorite was -150, for example, then the run line might be +120 at -1.5. On the other side of the line the underdog might be +130 at +1.5.

If you want to get a better price on a high scoring favorite, this can be a great option.
