Team Information
Cincinnati Red Stockings was baseball's first all-professional team. They were funded in 1866 and turned professional by 1869.
The current Cincinnati Reds have no direct relation with the Red Stockings but sharing the city and the name has led to much confusion. The Reds claims the history of the originals as its own.
The originals Red Stockings dissolved after 1870, some of its players moved to Boston and this led to the funding of Boston Red Stockings, now known as the Atlanta Braves.
