Team Information
The Detroit Tigers, is one out of four clubs who remain in their 1901 cities. They played their first game as a MLB team on April 25, 1901 with 10,000 fans at Bennett Park. That season The Tigers finished third in the eight team league.
One of the greatest players of all times, Ty Cobb, was enrolled in the Tigers club in 1905. Known by being fearless and powerful, Cobb was added to a team that already had stars like Hughie Jennings, Bill Donovan and San Crawford. It didn't took much time to see the results as the Detroit team won the American League pennant in 1907 for the first time.
In 1912, the Bennett Park was replaced for an elegant stadium named Navin Field, after the teams owner Frank Navin. By 1961, the stadium was renamed to Tiger Stadium. Here they played until the end of the 1999 season; from 2000 they have played in Comerica Park.
