The L.A. Dodgers are a MLB team based in Los Angeles, California. Its origins come from Brooklyn, New York, where it was known as the Brooklyn Dodgers, before moving to L.A. in the season of 1958.
In 1947, the Brooklyn Dodgers were the first MLB team to have an African-American playing in their team. His name was Jackie Robinson, a fast player with exceptional conditions. He inspired his whole team with his intensity. That year he was awarded with the Rookie of the Year award and eventually make it to the Hall of Fame.
Inside the history of the Civil Rights movement, this is regarded as a key moment and helped to the integration of sports in the United States.
