Team Information
Know as the Buffalo Braves in 1970, they were one of the three franchises that joined the NBA that season. They were based in Buffalo New York, until the mid 70's when they moved to San Diego after the 1977-78 season and became the San Diego Clippers. The name has to do with the city's history as a harbor for Clipper ships and the star of India which was harbored in San Diego.
In 1984, the San Diego based professional basketball team, moved to Los Angeles, California, where they had a disappointing first season. Actually the Clippers had quite a few bad seasons and it wasn't until 1992 when the team hired as head coach Larry Brown. They advanced to the playoffs for the first time in L.A. with a record of 45 wins and 37 losses.
