Team Information
After spending 13 years in Minneapolis (Land of 1,000 lakes) the Lakers moved to Los Angeles in 1960, becoming the first NBA team on the West Coast. Despite there were no lakes around in L.A. the franchise decided to keep their name.
After the 2005-2006 season, the Lakers became notable for having the most wins (2,806), the highest winning percentage (61.5%), the most finals appearance (28) and the second most championships (14) of any franchise after the Boston Celtics. Also, they hold the record for the most consecutive win streak (33) in U.S. professional team sports. Only on 5 occasions has the team missed the playoffs.
