Team Information
Back in 1967 The SuperSonics, were Seattle's first professional sports franchise. Known also as "Sonics" or "Supes" the SuperSonic name is meant to represent the aerospace industry that has established in the area. The name came from a local name contest. The logo is a white "S" with a yellow basketball on a green shield with Seattle Sonics written above.
Recently, some disagreements between the Basketball Club of Seattle and the city of Seattle concerning the need to renovate the Key Arena has led to the selling of the team and the Seattle Storm to a group from Oklahoma City for $350 million. The NBA approved the sale this past October 24th. Some fans are suspecting that the real intention of the new owners is to move the franchise to Oklahoma City, once the Hornets return to New Orleans, Louisiana. To prevent this from happening, the organized fans have created the Save Our Sonics and Storm, to show support and urge the regions leaders and the NBA to keep the teams in Seattle
