Team Information
New Orleans is well known for being a hot bed for Jazz Music and although not known for its Jazz music, the franchise decided to keep the name when it moved to Utah in 1979. The logo consists in the word "Jazz" written in sky blue across a purple basketball mountain range, which is topped by white snow, inside a navy circle with Utah written in sky blue at the top of the circle. The official colors used by the club are navy, sky blue, purple and white.
The Jazz team started in 1974 in New Orleans, after five seasons, the team was unsuccessful on and off the court. Drawing small crowds and winning few games a change was imminent. By 1979, the team decided to move to Utah in search of larger crowds and better fortune.
And indeed they found them. By the mid 80's, the Utah Jazz were establishing themselves as a force to be reckon with inside the NBA. The phrase "Stockton to Malone" was starting to become very common and not much time passed for both point guard John Stockton and forward Karl Malone became superstars.
