Team Information
The Baltimore Ravens were founded in 1996. Though officially an expansion team, the Ravens were originally the Cleveland Browns. After legal battles between the Cleveland Browns and the NFL it was agreed that the Ravens would be named a new expansion team and start with a clean slate and all of the Browns statistics and history would remain in Cleveland.
The Ravens also had some controversy over their logo. They were sued for copyright infringement and ultimately had to change the logo.
After struggling for the first 3 seasons, the Ravens started to turn things around in 1999. Their 8-8 record had put them close to playoff contention. In 2000 the defense stepped up and helped the Ravens make the playoffs for the first time. This led to their first (and so far only) Super Bowl win.
