The Oakland Raiders were founded in 1960 as part of the AFL. They became part of the NFL in 1970 after the merger. From 1982 to 1995 they were known as the Los Angeles Raiders after the team moved from Oakland to Los Angeles. The team moved back to Oakland in 1995 retaking the original name.
True Raider fans are known as "Raider Nation". They show up early for games, they dress up in face masks and black clothes and are known for tailgating.
