Team Information
The Pittsburgh Steelers were founded in 1933. The Steelers used to be called the Pirates. The name was changed to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1941 to avoid confusion with the major league baseball team of the same name and also because of Pittsburgh's strong steel industry.
They have appeared in 6 Super Bowls, winning 5 of them. They won the 2006 Super Bowl after being seeded 6th in the playoffs. The first team in the NFL to accomplish this feat. Check out LinesMaker sportbook football stats, odds and live lines and place your bet on Pittsburgh.
The Steelers colors have always been black and gold except for during a merger with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1943 during World War II. They merged because neither team had enough players left to field a team because of the war. They were nicknamed the "Steagles".
