Team Information
After years of trying and minor league hockey, Buffalo finally gets a NHL team. The Buffalo Sabres along with the Vancouver Canucks are one of the two expansion teams at the second expansion wave given by the NHL, bringing the total of NHL teams to 14.

The Buffalo Bisons had been one of the most dominant teams of the American Hockey League. In their last year they won the Calder Cup before transforming to the Sabres in 1970.

During the early 70's the Sabres had an attack line envied by many. With players like future Hockey Hall of Fame Gilbert Perreault, 1977 All Star Game MVP Rick Martin and Rene Robert they would make a good reputation for themselves as they reached the playoffs for the first time in just the third year of the club. They lost to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions, Montreal Canadiens but left a good impression on their fans. This trio would be known as 'The French Connection'.
