Team Information
In 1993 the Florida Panthers, became the most successful NHL team ever on their first season. They scored a 33-34-17 record and missed the playoffs for 1 point.
The next season would have the same ending for the team as they missed playoffs once again by a mere point. This resulted in the firing of rapidly successful coach, Roger Nielson, who was replaced by Doug McLean.
On their third season they didn't missed the playoffs as they went up against the Colorado Avalanche. Unfortunately they were swept 4-0. During this season a strange and different celebration arrived at the Florida Panthers games, as a locker room story made its way to the media, about a rat being knocked dead against a wall by winger Scott Mellanby. During the playoffs the rat count on the ice passed the 2,000 mark, strange enough according to the Chinese Astrological Calendar this was the year of the rat.
