Team Information
The team's owner Jack Kent Cooke named the team the Los Angeles Kings, hoping to infuse an air of royalty, he then chose the colors of purple and gold, the same colors the Los Angeles Lakers used and happened to be owned by him also. He then built the 'Fabulous Forum' in Inglewood California, which was meant to be the most beautiful arena in the world. They played in this stadium for 32 seasons before moving their home ice to the Staple Center before the season of 1999-2000.
In 1987, the L.A. Kings were sold to Bruce McNall, and were turned to Stanley Cup contenders almost overnight by 1998, when brought to the team the living legend of Wayne Gretzky. He changed the team's colors to black and silver, this colors remains until today as the team's official colors.
