Team Information
In 1992, after 58 years of absence, the NHL returned to Ottawa to resurrect the old team of the Ottawa Senators for the expansion wave the League was going thru. Their first game would be against the mighty actual Stanley Cup Champions, Montreal Canadiens. They would go out to beat the actual champion, 5-3. However, despite the promising start, the Senators would go the rest of the season playing mediocre hockey, finishing last with a terrible record of 10 wins, 70 lost games and 4 ties.
In 1996 the Ottawa Senators would have 2 major events. First Jacques Martin would be named their head coach. Then the team would be moved to their new home arena, the 18,500 seats Corel Centre in Kanata a small suburb of Ottawa. Since then, it can be said the team's performance has improved.
In the 2005-06 season the Senators would go ahead and win 52 games and losing 21, they finished 1st in the Eastern Division.
