Team Information
Vancouver's hockey tradition goes way deep as their old team at the beginning of the 20th century, the Vancouver Millionaires, won the Stanley Cup in 1915. For a while Vancouver struggle to receive an NHL expansion franchise but it was almost inevitable that one day it would happened. And it did. In 1970, the city of Vancouver was awarded with an NHL team.

The Vancouver Canucks owe their name to Johnny Canuck, a great logger who used to skate and play hockey in his spare time. Their logo is a deep blue killer whale, taken from the Canucks former parent company Orca, breaking through the top of a letter "C".

During the decade of the 70's the Vancouver Canucks played mediocre hockey although were able to get the 1975 Smythe Division Championship. In 10 years the team would miss 8 playoffs, which makes the decade of the 70's a decade that the Canucks would like to forget.
