Vegas Odds Superbowl Listen to Your Elders
Although the Colts and the Patriots are favored to win the Superbowl, any of the other teams could surprise us. The Vegas odds Superbowl contest is wide open.
As the pre-season training camp approaches and the pre-season schedule lies in wait, football fans around the world begin to fidget in anticipation of the oncoming NFL season for 2007. If there was a lesson to be learned from the 2006 campaign, it was that Bert Bell, erstwhile Commissioner of the National Football League, believed in his heart that parody was the reason for the love affair that the fans have for the NFL. Bell, who preceded legendary Commissioner Pete Rozelle, firmly believed that, “On any given Sunday, any team in the NFL can beat any other team.” Bell’s motto, nowadays, would also include Monday and Thursday evenings as the NFL now schedules televised games on those days as a regular course of action. In 2006, it seemed that everyone was getting into the action to prove that Commissioner Bell’s adage was correct. Let us use as an example the Tennessee Titans. The Titans started off miserably, losing a game to the New York Jets in Tennessee after rallying from twenty-one points down to tie the game in the 4th quarter, only to have the Jets go the length of the field in the final minute for the winning touch down. From that point on, quarterback Kerry Collins was a victim of poor protection and questionable play calling. By the time the season reached the mid-point, the Titans, coached by veteran mentor Steve Fisher, were mired in the basement of their Division.
Fisher removed Collins from the position of starting quarterback and inserted rookie Vince Young. Young was the #3 draft choice with a remarkable pedigree. Young led a last minute rally for his Texas Longhorns as they upset Southern Cal for the National Championship. In his first start as a professional, he duplicated the feat. He brought the Titans back from twenty-four points behind to defeat the New York Giants. The Titans remained hot the rest of the season and, remarkably, battled for a playoff position until the final week of the season.
The Vegas odds Superbowl contest could be a match up involving any of the teams. Although the Vegas odds Superbowl sportsbook favors either the Colts or the Patriots to take the title, the Vegas odds Superbowl predictions at this point are just a shot in the dark. As my Dad used to say, “Play the money team.” In this case, that’s the New England Patriots.
